Soup Curry

Curry of the far North

Mostly known as the Snow Country, Hokkaido is best known for its lavender field, Ski Resorts and seafood. Since Hokkaido has long winters and short summers, people in Hokkaido need to find different ways to keep themselves warm. One of the ways to keep themselves warm during the cold winter is by eating hot and tasty food. The most well known of all is the soup curry. Unlike other kinds of curry you find in Japan where it is thick and saucy, soup curry's rue is thin like water. One might think that if it is thin then it might be lacking some flavour. The truth is this magical dish is packed with flavor, probably more than the average curry you find in other parts of Japan. Although soup like, it is made with many different herbs and spices and resembles more of Thai yellow curry. Along with the curry, there are different toppings you can choose from: vegetables, chicken, mutton, etc. If you drop by Hokkaido I recommend you to try out this dish if you haven't yet!
