Hakodate Shio Ramen

Shio Ramen

Hakodate's shio ramen is also a local cuisine eaten among locals. When you think of Hokkaido you would think of miso ramen and not shio but for Hakodate, shio ramen is the way to go. The soup base is made of asari or clams and the they add the shio soup base to make the perfect soup for the ramen. For the noodles they use the thin noodles (hoso-men) and boy let me tell you, that balance is really good. If you want something not that filling but warms your stomach then shio ramen is something you should try especially during the winter. What beats a bowl of hot (atsu atsu) ramen during the cold of winter?
